It is a chemical formula especially created to significantly increase fire resistance when applied to reed, wood and other natural materials. The water based intumescent coating provides essential protection yet does not contain any toxic elements, making it user and environmentally friendly.
Cape Reed Fireshield is manufactured by Magma Industries* a leading international supplier of fire retardants specifically for natural materials and fabrics. It is ideal for protecting structures such as wooden gazebos and pergolas, tiki thatch and wooden cladding. *The manufacturing process is verified under ISO 9001: 2000 and complies with OECD guidelines during the manufacturing and application processes.
What We Do
FIRESHIELD FOR THATCH
This application is designed for thatch, reed, brezo or barasti style roofs and structures. It is milky during application and clear when dry. This easy and efficient spray application offers a three-year protection period.
FIRESHIELD FOR TIMBER
This application is designed for timber structures ranging from hard to soft wood substrates (not including flooring). This easy and efficient spray application into a matt white finish that offers a five-year protection period.
TESTING AND CERTIFICATION
Cape Reed Fireshield conforms to international standards and complies with all relevant requirements and standards for construction with natural materials, offering an overall B-Roof (t1) fire rating. Relevant certification documents can be seen here.
